Frequently Asked Questions
Won’t straps make my grip weak?+
Only if you use them for everything. The usual approach is to lift bare-handed on your lighter sets and save the straps for your heaviest pulls and high-rep back work — that way your grip still gets trained, but it stops capping your progress.
When should I actually use them?+
Deadlifts, rows, shrugs, lat pulldowns, pull-ups and loaded carries — anything where your hands give out before the target muscle does. They’re not meant for pressing or squatting.
How tight should they be?+
Snug at the wrist and wrapped firmly around the bar — tight enough that nothing slides, but never so tight that your hand tingles or goes numb. If it does, loosen it.
Are they beginner-friendly?+
Yes, though it’s worth practising the wrap with a light bar first so it becomes automatic. Build your base grip strength too — straps are a tool for heavy days, not a permanent crutch.
Do they come as a pair?+
Yes — you get a matched pair, one for each hand.
